KEEP OPEN PIT MINING OUT OF Silver CiTY!
Comstock Mining Inc started drilling in Silver City, December 2010

Comstock Mining Inc’s drilling program in at the Dayton Consolidated Milll (their “Dayton” project) in Silver City demonstrates that the compact nature of the community and it’s location in a canyon make it impossible to mitigate industrial noise and dust pollution. An operating pit mine in our community would be a disaster.

Comstock Mining Inc intends to “revitalize” the Comstock by extensive exploration and production of gold and silver through open pit mining and heap leaching within the Comstock National Historic District and the Virginia City National Historic Landmark.

Comstock residents oppose these plans because the Landmark is already designated as threatened by “the cumulative effects of contemporary surface mines,” and because of adverse effects to property values, peace and quiet, and the natural environment.
